Pond Puppy
Warranty / Use
Warranty
Your Pond Puppy Retriever is covered with a 1-year limited warranty on the snare head, and a 90-day limited warranty on the telescoping pole.
Precautions
Do not use near electrical equipment such as power poles, transformers, power lines, or in electrical storms as this may result in serious injury or death. Your Pond Puppy retriever is made of stainless steel and can be electrically conductive.
Use care when extending and collapsing the telescoping pole. Do not press the pole against an immovable object to collapse (the ground, a tree, rock, etc.) as it can result in the sections bending and breaking.
Your Pond Puppy has a water drain hole in the handle. Beware when collapsing the pole after using, as a large amount of water may be expelled through the drain hole.
Proper Use
Separate the snare head and the telescoping pole by opening the Velcro straps.
Unwind the star tightener from the center rod on the snare head and remove the lock washer from underneath (this is the stored position for the lock washer).
Replace the star tightener onto the center rod.
Place the lock washer on top of the star tightener then attach the center rod into the telescoping pole until completely threaded.
Tighten the star tightener and lock washer in preparation for use. After repeated use, check the coupling to ensure tightness and to avoid the snare head dropping off the pole.
Cast your Pond Puppy Retriever in an overlapping search pattern for best results. See BEST PRACTICES.
After use, remove the snare head from the telescoping pole, replacing the lock washer in the “stored” position behind the star tightener, and affix to the pole using the Velcro straps. Leaving the snare head attached can result in undue wear and tear on the pole coupling.
To extend the life of your Pond Puppy Retriever, fully extend the telescoping pole and allow to dry after use.
Best Practices
Use two hands when extending (casting) the Pond Puppy Retriever over water.
Let the snare head completely sink before pulling towards you. Pull with a steady grip at a medium speed to increase your chances of snaring discs.
If pulling progress stops because of snagging on objects in the water (rocks, limbs, etc.), do not continue to pull or force the snare head. Push back a few inches and avoid the object.
Some ponds have watergrasses and other growth. These can be shaken from the snare head before the next cast or cleared manually to keep the snare areas clear. If the pond growth is excessive, your Pond Puppy Retriever may not be the proper method of disc retrieval for that pond.
Your Pond Puppy Retriever allows a 6X opportunity to snare a lost disc, so a slightly overlapping 2 ft snare head search pattern will yield the quickest retrieval results.
Not all pond bottoms are flat so be aware your disc may slide along underwater angles and banks to the lowest resting position in the pond.
Your Pond Puppy Retriever will convey the pond bottom geography to you via vibrations in your hand. It’s apparent when you snare a disc. If you think you're bumping into a disc, you probably are. Concentrate on that area more before moving on.
